Job Description

Guided by Catholic values and teachings; a fundamental belief in strengthening families; and under the mandate of the laws of Ontario, the mission of the Society is to protect and advocate for the wellbeing of children within the City of Hamilton.  We serve and offer bilingual (English/French) service to children, youth, and families within the Hamilton community to protect their safety and well-being, strengthen families and nurture lifelong relationships.

 

The Catholic Children’s Aid Society is seeking Enhanced Foster Care Providers to provide professional, full time foster care for children and youth ages 11-16 years in the care of CCAS Hamilton.  Foster homes providing Enhanced Foster Care provide family-based care for children and youth who may present with complex behavioral needs and who require enhanced, full-time care.  For this program, there must be a full time “stay at home” parent.

 

DUTIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

 

As an Enhanced Foster Care Provider your duties would include:

 

  • Providing care in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (Ministry).
  • Working in collaboration with the child’s circle of care, including, the child’s family, cultural and community supports, medical professionals and other practitioners to best meet the needs of the child.
  • Knowledge of community services and demonstrated ability to advocate and access community for children and families
  • Completing required training and participating in ongoing foster care training.
  • Demonstrating leadership and a commitment to the principles of anti-oppressive practices and anti-racism based on justice, fairness, equity, respect of the beliefs and traditions of others.
  • Commitment to the Society’s mission and vision.
  • Demonstrating capacity and ability in the following areas:
    • Clinical skills working with children and youth with understanding of Child Development, Grief and Loss, Trauma and Attachment and effectively engaging Support Network.
    • Able to affirm and integrate in the delivery of services the Society values which reflect the Agency’s Catholic faith, heritage, culture, and traditions.
    • Bondable with acceptable vulnerable sector clearance, and satisfactory provincial records search.
    • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and acceptable drivers abstract.
    • Bilingual French/English is an asset.

 

Enhanced Foster Care Providers will receive the following:

 

  • Competitive, tax-free financial compensation for care provided to children and youth. The provider will receive $100/day per child with or without a placement
  • Up to 20 hours per month of clinical support
  • 24 paid respite days per year
  • Additional 1:1 support for the children as needed
  • 24/7 on call emergency support
  • Extensive initial and ongoing professional development opportunities
